THE LFA HOCKEY PROGRAMS

HERITAGE DIVISION

The Heritage division was created following the merger of the best elements of our recreational group and the veterans who played in the Central and Buzz divisions in the past. It offers a recreational and competitive playing experience and has established itself as our development division in which younger players and veterans share their hockey heritage. The mindset remains more recreational and less focused on stats despite the presentation of a trophy at the end of the season. Some players played competitive hockey in their youth and others in recreational leagues, but all play in this division for the pleasure of the “game” more than for the statistics and trophies. Probably our most fun division!

New FLEX division

This new division brings together recreational players (MIXED REC) to allow them to play in a recreational-competitive environment so they too can experience being part of a team. This new program complements our other recreational-competitive programs, creating a fourth level.

To help you navigate the different levels, the Central Division is our A level, the Satellite Division our B level, the Heritage Division our C level, and our new FLEX Division is our D level. The LFA now offers hockey for absolutely every skill level.

REC 101 MIXED & REC MIXED DIVISIONS

To give recreational players the chance to play twice a week and to compensate for our new FLEX division, our Rec Mixed division will now be divided into two groups: REC 101 Mixed on Sunday mornings for beginners and less experienced players, and REC Mixed in the evenings for more seasoned recreational players.

Our REC MIXED program offers men and women the opportunity to play together and practice our national sport in a RECREATIONAL setting. No stats, championships or trophies to be won. Simply an opportunity to play for the love of the game in a structured environment with balanced and fair teams for all. With the teams changing from series to series, you will be able to make new friends on off the ice. From beginner players. to those who do not want to play competitive anymore and even a 74 year old veteran, that make a happy mix.

Watching hockey is good, but playing is even better!

ROCKETTES DIVISION

The Rockettes division is our 100% WOMEN division to offer them the same opportunity to play great ogranized and friendly hockey as our male members. Even if women are welcomed in all our divisions, the Rockettes division is all theirs. Become a pionner and a new member of this growing LFA division !

New LFA PICK-UP ROCKETTES division

The LFA Rockettes pick-up is perfect for those who simply want to play for the love of the game, not for personal stats or to win a championship trophy. It also allows players on one of our Rockettes division teams to play another game during the week. Teams will rotate weekly, with the possibility of creating four balanced groups of five players for the summer (a fun and tested format), with mini-series to spice things up!

The intensity of the game varies between recreational and competitive, but it remains a friendly environment where everyone is welcome.

CENTRAL DIVISION

The Central Division is the first division of the LFA created in 2012. It includes all the advantages of being part of the premier adult hockey league in Montreal and has a rich history of epic games, long standing friendships and the most imposing trophies in amateur hockey (winter season). While maintaining the LFA recipe as in all of our programs, each team is built with 3-4 levels of players who generally played (but not all) A to AAA and are mid-twenties to late fifties. The players are generally in good physical condition.

SATELLITE DIVISION

The Satellite Division is made up of 6 teams who have a chance to win the Satellite cup, one of our biggest trophies. It offers a good level of play with also 3-4 levels of players per team. We also find players who have generally played (but not all) A up to AAA. Mid-twenties to late fifties, but generally a little older than in the Central division. Then again, things change from season to season so it might end up stronger or exacly the same as our Central division.

7AM BUZZ DIVISION

The 7AM BUZZ is a morning hockey program that is perfect for early risers and those who want to play before or after work. This recreational division has a mixed level of players who play for the love of the game.

VINTAGE DIVISION (First summer season)

The LFA VINTAGE, open to those 49 and older, will be in its first summer season with an interesting proposition for those who particularly appreciate the social and friendly side of hockey while maintaining a competitive edge Emphasis is placed on the quality of the members to create a great team and post-game spirit. As a bonus, the coolest championship trophy on the planet, containing 20 liters of beer, will be awarded to the champions :)

PICK-UP DIVISION

The LFA Montreal pick-up is perfect for those who simply want to play for the love of the “game” and not for personal statistics or to win a championship trophy. It's also perfect for those who want a practice style game in between their regular team games. The teams will change from week to week with the possibility of creating 4 balanced groups of 5 players for the summer (a fun tested formula) but small series 2 of 3 are to be expected to spice things up!

The intensity of play varies between recreational and competitive, but remains a friendly environment where everyone is welcome.

CLUB HOUSE DIVISION

The LFA Club House is a cool proposal for those who particularly enjoy the social side of playing hockey. It picks up where pick-up style games end by adding a little twist to the “après match”. Our most experienced and mature members are sure to be pleased Emphasis is placed on the quality of the members to create a great group spirit. As they say, “membership has its privileges” :)

3V3 CHALLENGE DIVISION

Due to the success of our annual LFA RUSH 3V3 tournament we have created a division to allow fans of this style of game on a small ice to play every week. Balanced teams made up of 6 players and a goalkeeper compete and as in our 5v5 divisions will play to get their hands on one of our exclusive championship trophies. Competitive hockey but always FRIENDLY above all :)
