LFA PROTOCOL FOR SAFE HOCKEY IN PERIODS OF CRISIS
(FALL 2020)

  • Temperature measurement when the player arrives at the arena

  • Hand washing as soon as we return to the room after the game (recommendation already made to the arena administration for the installation of Purell's station in the center of the rooms)

  • Mask at all times except on the players' bench and on the ice

  • Respect of the 2 meters distance in the room and on the players' bench

  • Team pre-game cheer more distant than usual and taps on the pads instead of the usual fist pumps

  • No hugs between players after a goal or victory celebrations.

  • Social distancing post-match greetings (tap the pads with opposing team players while keeping recommended distancing)

  • Effort by everyone not to spit or touch their face as much as possible while on the ice or on the bench

  • If a player or person living under the same roof exhibits flu-like symptoms before a game, please declare your absence as soon as possible!

Several scenarios if a case of COVID-19 is declared in the LFA:

# 1: The player became symptomatic less than 48 hours after the game

OR

The player never developed any symptoms, but was diagnosed positive less than 48 hours after the game:

• Only players who have been in close contact (see definition in the French LFA Journal article of September 25, 2020) should self-isolate and undergo a screening test.

• All other players who have taken part in the game (both teams) must practice daily self-monitoring for symptoms (fever, cough, breathing difficulties, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of smell or taste) during 10 to 14 days after the game.

• Only the team of the player in question sees its next game canceled as a preventive measure.

# 2 The player became symptomatic more than 48 hours after the game

OR

The player never developed any symptoms, but was diagnosed positive more than 48 hours after the game:

• Only the player in question is removed from the roster for the next game

• All other players who have taken part in the game (both teams) must practice daily self-monitoring for symptoms (fever, cough, breathing difficulties, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of smell or taste) during 10 to 14 days after the game.

• The next game of the player's team is held.

Contacts of contacts are not contacts.

If a player learns BEFORE HIS GAME that he has been in close contact with a COVID-19 case outside of the arena:

• Only the player in question is withdrawn from the roster for the upcoming game, he must isolate himself and undergo a Covid19 test

If a player learns AFTER HIS GAME that he had been in close contact with a COVID-19 case outside the arena in the days leading up to the game:

• Only the player in question is withdrawn from the roster for the next game, he must isolate himself and undergo a Covid19 test

• All other players who have taken part in the game (both teams) must practice daily self-monitoring for symptoms (fever, cough, breathing difficulties, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of smell or taste) during 10 to 14 days after the game.

• The next game of the player's team is held

Let's stay focus, follow the instructions, deal with the current situation in a rational and responsible way and everything will be fine.

* Note that the measures put in place could change along the way depending on the evolution of the situation.
